At IIT Bombay, I was involved in developing in-core FORTRAN Compiler for EC-1030 (an IBM-360 compatible Russian computer) as part of my M.Tech. Programme. In student environment, students write small programs in learning environment. The programs normally have syntactic and semantic errors. The objective to write compiler which was to compile such short programs faster and report errors extensively. The special purpose compiler was a single pass and memory resident.
